Description: Day & Night COMTREX® Flu Therapy and Fever Relief provides you with two different maximum strength formulas. COMTREX Daytime (orange caplets) is non-drowsy and contains the maximum levels of a non-aspirin analgesic and of a nasal decongestant allowed. COMTREX® Nighttime (green tablets), contains the same ingredients PLUS the maximum level of an antihistamine--so you can rest.
Composition Each daytime orange caplet contains: Acetaminophen 500 mg and Pseudoephedrine HCl 30 mg. Each nighttime green tablet contains: Acetaminophen 500 mg, Chlorpheniramine Maleate 2 mg, and Pseudoephedrine HCl 30 mg. Other Ingredients: Each Daytime Caplet contains: Benzoic Acid, Carnauba Wax, Corn Starch, D&C Yellow No. 10 Aluminum Lake, D&C Yellow No. 10, FD&C Red No. 40 Aluminum Lake, FD&C Red No. 40, Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose, Mineral Oil, Polysorbate 20, Povidone, Propylene Glycol, Simethicone Emulsion, Sorbitan Monolaurate, Stearic Acid, Titanium Dioxide. Each Nighttime Tablet contains: Benzoic Acid, Carnauba Wax, Corn Starch, D&C Yellow No. 10 Aluminum Lake, FD&C Blue No. 1 Aluminum Lake, FD&C Red No. 40 Aluminum Lake, Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose, Magnesium Stearate, Methylparaben, Mineral Oil, Polysorbate 20, Povidone, Propylene Glycol, Propylparaben, Simethicone Emulsion, Sodium Citrate, Sorbitan Monolaurate, Stearic Acid, Titanium Dioxide. Nighttime Tablets may also contain: FD&C Blue No. 1, D&C Yellow No. 10.
Uses: COMTREX DAYTIME CAPLETS: For the temporary relief of minor aches, and pains, associated with the common cold and flu, sore throat pain, muscular aches, headache, fever, and nasal congestion. COMTREX® NIGHTTIME TABLETS: Provide the same relief as the daytime caplets PLUS temporarily relieves runny nose and reduces sneezing.
Alcohol Warning: If you consume 3 or more alcoholic drinks every day, ask your doctor whether you should take acetaminophen or other pain relievers/fever reducers. Acetaminophen may cause liver damage.
Warnings For Daytime Caplets & Nighttime Tablets: Keep out of reach of children. In case of overdose, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away. Prompt medical attention is critical for adults as well as children even if you do not notice any signs or symptoms. As with any drug, if you are pregnant or nursing a baby, seek the advice of a health professional before using this product. Do not take this product for more than 7 days. If symptoms do not improve or are accompanied by fever that lasts for more than 3 days, or if new symptoms occur, or if redness or swelling is present, consult a doctor. If sore throat is severe, persists for more than 2 days, is accompanied or followed by fever, headache, rash, nausea, or vomiting, consult a doctor promptly.
Do not exceed recommended dosage. If nervousness, dizziness, or sleeplessness occur, discontinue use and consult a doctor. Do not take this product unless directed by a doctor, if you have a breathing problem such as emphysema or chronic bronchitis, heart disease, high blood pressure, thyroid disease, diabetes, glaucoma, or difficulty in urination due to enlargement of the prostate gland.
Additional Warnings For Nighttime Tablets: May cause excitability especially in children. May cause drowsiness; alcohol, sedatives, and tranquilizers may increase the drowsiness effect. Avoid alcoholic beverages while taking this product. Do not take this product if you are taking sedatives or tranquilizers, without first consulting your doctor. Use caution when driving a motor vehicle or operating machinery.
Drug Interaction Precaution: Do not use if you are now taking a prescription monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) (certain drugs for depression, psychiatric, or emotional conditions, or Parkinson' disease), or for 2 weeks after stopping the MAOI drug. If you do not know if your prescription drug contains an MAOI, ask a doctor or pharmacist before taking this product.
Overdose: Acetylcysteine as an antidote for acetaminophen overdose. See COMTREX PROFESSIONAL INFORMATION section at the beginning of this Comtrex listing.
Directions: Adults: 2 Daytime Caplets every 6 hours while symptoms persist, not to exceed 4 Daytime Caplets in 24 hours, or as directed by your doctor. 2 Nighttime Tablets at bedtime, if needed, to be taken no sooner than 6 hours after the last Daytime Caplets dose, or as directed by a doctor. Children under 12 years of age: consult a doctor.
